To honor the brave men and women of Clinton County who have answered the call to serve their country in uniform, a section of Old U.S. 50 will soon be dedicated as the “Clinton County Veterans Memorial Highway,” following passage of legislation sponsored by State Senator Jason Plummer (R-Edwardsville).
“A major inspiration for this bill is a group of mostly Vietnam veterans who still get together and find ways to serve, from building wheelchair ramps, to helping youth organizations, even helping build homes,” said Sen. Plummer. “These veterans served our nation proudly in the military, and they continue to serve us today back home.”
House Joint Resolution 10 directs the Illinois Department of Transportation to designate Old US 50 through Clinton County as the “Clinton County Veterans Memorial Road.”
The resolution was filed in the Illinois House by Representative Charles Meier and sponsored in the Senate by Plummer.
