Senator Plummer Reacts to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s Visit to Illinois

State Senator Jason Plummer (R-Edwardsville) issued the following statement in response to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s visit to Springfield:

“The visit from Secretary Noem is a wake-up call for anyone who hasn’t been paying attention to the consequences of Illinois’ extreme sanctuary policies. Despite the fact that his policies continue to make national headlines, tie the hands of law enforcement, turn our state into a safe haven for criminal illegal immigrants and drive up costs for already stressed Illinois taxpayers, Pritzker seems more interested in scoring points with national progressives than protecting the people he was elected to serve.

“Let me be clear – shielding violent offenders from federal law enforcement doesn’t make us more compassionate. It puts our communities at risk and it is a public safety disaster.

“The Governor may be headed to Washington in a few weeks, but Illinois families need answers now. They deserve transparency, accountability, and a government that puts their safety first. They deserve the truth.”
