Senators Plummer and McClure Announce New FOID Card Services in Effingham

State Senators Jason Plummer (R-Edwardsville) and Steve McClure (R-Springfield) are sharing information about a new Illinois State Police (ISP) initiative offering in-person assistance with Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) cards and Concealed Carry Licenses (CCL) in Effingham.

The new kiosk will provide residents with direct assistance completing FOID card and Concealed Carry License applications, renewals, account updates, and other related services.

“Law-abiding gun owners should not have to struggle through a complicated state bureaucracy simply to exercise their constitutional rights,” said Plummer. “Bringing these services directly to Effingham will make the process more accessible for residents throughout the region. My office is also always available to help constituents navigate state agencies, and anyone with questions about the kiosk or other state services should not hesitate to reach out.”

The kiosk is located at 401 Industrial Drive, Suite A, in Effingham. It will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to noon and from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

“This kiosk will give residents a convenient, local option to receive face-to-face assistance rather than trying to navigate the process entirely on their own,” said McClure. “Providing better access to these services is an important step toward reducing frustration and helping law-abiding firearm owners complete the required process efficiently.”

According to the ISP, services available at the kiosk will include:

·                   Assistance with submitting name/address changes, renewals, and new applications online

·                   Taking a photo and uploading it to the application

·                   Assistance with correcting rejected applications

·                   Submitting Firearm Disposition Records (FDRs)

·                   Surrendering FOID/CCL cards when required

·                   A publicly accessible computer will be available to complete online applications and make updates to existing accounts

Residents with questions may also contact Senator Plummer’s district office at 618-283-3000 or Senator McClure’s district office at 217-347-3883.
