Applications are Now Being Accepted for the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program

The latest funding cycle for the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP) provides resources to communities with needed infrastructure upgrades.

Administered through the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), projects that are acceptable under this program include walking trails, biking paths, community appearance enhancements, and other upgrades that encourage safe travel.

To provide additional resources to those with the greatest needs, ITEP is allocating 25% of the state funding to disadvantaged communities.

Eligible applicants include local governments and regional planning commissions. If a nonprofit or private entity would like to participate, they must have a public sponsor to be eligible. If selected, the maximum award is $5 million.
