Governor hides Prisoner Review Board appointees from public, skirts constitutional requirement

For over two years, 4 of Governor Pritzker’s appointees to the Prisoner Review Board have been serving and deciding whether convicted murders, rapists, sexual predators, etc. should be released from prison without being confirmed by the Illinois Senate, despite the constitution requiring a hearing within 60 session days.

Between March 2019 and April 2019 Governor Pritzker appointed these 4 individuals to the Prisoner Review Board. Rather than having the appointees go through confirmation, Governor Pritzker withdrew their appointments only to re-appoint them DAYS later, restarting the 60 day clock.

This manipulation of the process isn’t just wrong, it’s dangerous.
