Nearly 2,500 Valentine’s Day Cards Collected Through Sen. Jason Plummer’s Annual Program for Seniors in the 55th District

In an effort to brighten the lives of senior citizens across the Metro East and Southern Illinois, nearly 2,500 Valentine’s Day cards were collected through State Senator Jason Plummer’s (R-Edwardsville) annual Valentine’s Day program and shared with residents at long-term care facilities throughout the 55th Senate District.

The cards were collected from local schools, churches, community groups, and residents throughout the district and distributed to several facilities to help bring joy to seniors during the Valentine’s Day season.

“Our seniors are an important part of our communities, and this program is a meaningful way to come together and show how much they are appreciated,” said Sen. Plummer. “I’m thankful to everyone who took the time to make or send a card this year.”

This year’s program marked the sixth year Sen. Plummer has hosted the Valentine’s Day card drive for seniors across the 55th Senate District. Since the program began in 2021, Sen. Plummer has collected more than 14,000 valentines for seniors throughout the district.
