
Student Art Contest
In honor of America’s 250th and advocating for the Arts in Illinois, State Senator Jason Plummer is hosting an art contest. The contest is open to 1st through 8th Grade students throughout the 55th Senate District, and artists will have an opportunity to showcase their skills through the chosen theme of celebrating the 250th birthday of the United States of America.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE:
- 1st–8th Grade students
- Schools within the 55th Senate District
THEME IDEAS:
Themes that can be explored include, but are not limited to: - What makes you proud of your community?
- What do state symbols or emblems mean to you?
- What makes America special — freedom, parks, cities,
farmland, voting, etc.
ARTWORK GUIDELINES:
- Maximum size: 8 x 10 inches
- Acceptable media: markers, oil pastels, and mixed media
Each submission must include: - Student’s name, school name, and art teacher’s name
- Submit artwork to: pbuente@sgop.ilga.gov, or mail/drop it off at district office
KEY DATES:
- June 18: Last day to submit art
- July 4: Winners selected
AWARDS & RECOGNITION:
- Winning artwork will be framed and displayed at Senator Plummer’s district office
